Ski tour to Ararat (5165m) in 7 days
Climbing snow-capped Ararat above the spring-like plains of eastern Anatolia is perfectly possible on skis. You fly individually (via Istanbul) to Van in East Antolia on the lake of the same name. After visiting the Van castle complex, which is over 3,000 years old, you take an introductory tour to the 4,085 meter high Süphan, the third highest mountain in Turkey. Very impressive and ideal for height adjustment. The view of Lake Van, which lies directly to the south, is unique. Then you drive to Dogubayazit, the small Kurdish town at the foot of the mighty Ararat, 5165 m. You tackle the “Büyük Agri Dagi” via the base camp, which is at a good 3000 m altitude depending on the snow line, with your local mountain guide. If everything goes well, you ski down from the summit straight to the flower meadows at the foot of Ararat – gigantic. If you still have some time, we recommend an individual extension in Istanbul.
