14 days: Nemrut Crater 3050m.- Mt.Süphan 4058m. and Ararat 5165m
Short description: Clearly visible from afar, Mount Ararat, one of the most powerful volcanic massifs in the world, rises like a phoenix from the ashes over the lowlands of eastern Anatolia. The "Big Ararat" is the highest mountain in Turkey at 5,165 m, only separated from the "Little Ararat" (3,896 m) by a saddle. Via Istanbul you reach Van, your starting point of the journey. Here on Turkey's largest lake, you can take a boat trip in the midst of idyllic surroundings to the island of Akdamar. Afterwards you will make two beautiful introductory mountain tours to Nemrut Dagi (3,050 m) and to Süphan Dagi (4,058 m). This will get you in the right mood for Mount Ararat. A pleasant side effect is an optimal adjustment to the height. Then drive together to Dogubayzit in Ara-rat region. Here you can visit the site where Noah's Ark was found. There is no absolute proof and everyone can let their imagination run wild. In Eli at the foot of the mythical mountain you will start the 5-day climb (incl. acclimatization day) to the top of Mount Ararat. The path leads past Kurdish nomads, alpine meadows and over scree paths to the summit. From the highest point in the country you have a unique view over the lowlands of Turkey to Armenia and Iran. The descent follows the ascent route to the village of Eli. Then drive back to Dogubayzit. Here you will visit the fascinating ruins of the Ishak Pasha Palace and end the evening with a traditional dinner with a Kurdish family.
